Employment

• Permanent full-time and part-time, trained teacher-librarians
• Appointments made through central staffing, not at local school levels, causing casualisation
• Schools to notify DET Staffing Unit of all vacant positions
• All classes to be included in the staffing formula for TL allocation. ie primary support classes

RFF in primary schools

• Full reinstatement of RFF teacher provision through the staffing formula so that no TL need provide RFF.

Training

Fully trained teacher-librarians in every school library which means:
 
• Initial employment of teachers with appropriate qualifications
• Provision and increased sponsorship of training programs for teacher-librarians

• Ongoing training
• Adequate technical support

Guaranteed secondary staffing entitlements which ensure that supervision of students is catered for without the TL being forced to take responsibility.

• Increased support staff to ensure in primary and central schools there is at least equivalent dedicated library support stafff time as TL time.
• Appropriate training for library support staff.
